SHOUT OUT !!! A HUGE Thanks goes out to these amazing people donating their services...
- DLA Phillips Fox Law Firm - Thankyou so much Amir Fitzhugh for guiding us through the forest!!! DLA Phillips Fox are providing us with pro bono legal advice in the following areas - corporations law, property law and taxation law....all very scarey areas for a small community organisation!
- Martin Carey, Director of Global Projects, is donating his construction project management skills to coordinating and overseeing the cafe fit out.
- Peter Macaluso, Managing Director of The CKC Group, who is donating his architectual services as well as snow balling the chain of giving. Amazing inspirational people!!!
- The Hoyts Corporation for providing us with a genreous rent free period and a heavily reduced rental rate on the cafe site. We are also looking forward to many mutual beneficial partnerships between the Hoyts Cinemas and this project. It's great to see our large corporations getting behind local communities and even joining forces to work together with small community groups in building up stronger local communities!
- Vic Lilli from Vic Lilli & Partners for not only providing his own engineering services for free but also for starting a chain of giving by others! Vic has been helping us through the quagmire of development consents, building processes and much more...
- Yuri Bolotin, from Design Portfolio, the Design Company developing the branding as well as designing the cafe, is donating much of his own time as well as making a donation back to BMYS from the design fees.
- Zoya Matis, a local resident, has donated a whole box of commercial cookery books that will be able to be used by the young people as a valuable resource.
The Cafe Has a Name!!!
After much deliberation and debate a name has finally been found! Both through the online poll and through consultation with the key stakeholders "PepperTree Cafe" won. Thak you to everyone who shared their knowledge and views on what name could encompass and represented this amazing project! The fiery passion that came through much of the debating sessions demonstrated just how deeply the local members care about this project. (WOW!)
"PepperTree" was selected because of its relevence to the local area. One of the oldest propoerties in Bankstown is "The Homestead". Throughout this beautiful property the original pepper trees still grow. It was important to us that the name could be inclusive to everybody while also capturing the growth this project will create. The great thing about nature is that is doesn't disciminate and we all exist within it.
