SHOUT OUT !!! A HUGE Thanks goes out to these amazing people donating their services...
- DLA Phillips Fox Law Firm - Thankyou so much Amir Fitzhugh for guiding us through the forest!!! DLA Phillips Fox are providing us with pro bono legal advice in the following areas - corporations law, property law and taxation law....all very scarey areas for a small community organisation!
- Martin Carey, Director of Global Projects, is donating his construction project management skills to coordinating and overseeing the cafe fit out.
- Peter Macaluso, Managing Director of The CKC Group, who is donating his architectual services as well as snow balling the chain of giving. Amazing inspirational people!!!
- The Hoyts Corporation for providing us with a genreous rent free period and a heavily reduced rental rate on the cafe site. We are also looking forward to many mutual beneficial partnerships between the Hoyts Cinemas and this project. It's great to see our large corporations getting behind local communities and even joining forces to work together with small community groups in building up stronger local communities!
- Vic Lilli from Vic Lilli & Partners for not only providing his own engineering services for free but also for starting a chain of giving by others! Vic has been helping us through the quagmire of development consents, building processes and much more...
- Yuri Bolotin, from Design Portfolio, the Design Company developing the branding as well as designing the cafe, is donating much of his own time as well as making a donation back to BMYS from the design fees.
- Zoya Matis, a local resident, has donated a whole box of commercial cookery books that will be able to be used by the young people as a valuable resource.
First Advisory Committee "The Brains Trust" Held
A huge thank you goes out to both those who attended as well as those who have expressed interest in being involved. We've very excited to be working together with such amazing people and businesses including Mr Tony Stewart M.P.; Mark Sykes, Manager of the Arab Bank in Bankstown; The Bankstown District Sports Club; The Westpac Foundation; Bankstown City Council; Metro MRC; and Members from the BMYS board - Jean Claude Camelin, George Zeitoune & Geoffrey Allen.
The Brains Trust discussed the importance for the cafe to be stylish and "trendy". Achieving the right atmosphere that matches with the name along with having good quality food is important to making the cafe a destination. A big challenge will be to find the right person to be the Head Chef/Cafe Manager....(if you know anyone see if they might be interested...)
Further to the right atmosphere, the furniture, plates etc all need to be quality and consistent with the name / theme. This brings us to the name competition...As the name of the cafe will influence the theme and atmosphere of the cafe it plays a pivotal role. (Please help us to find the best name by either submitting suggestions or voting!!!!)
The next meeting of the "Brains Trust" will be early January 2010. If you're interested in getting involved email the manager at manager@bmys.ngo.org.au
